Torn Paper Collages
This is the second and more ambitious series of torn paper collage pictures to leave the barn. Most of the drawing I've done over the last few years has been undertaken with this project in mind. Some of them are more than one drawing combined, while all have been collaged with a selection of Japanese and Indian handmade papers.Finished collages have been mounted against glass to create a three dimensional effect within the frame, hence the shadows just visible in these photographs. This was a technique inspired by my study of antique silhouettes, which sometimes use similar ‘glass mounting’ to throw silhouette shadows onto a white ground. (download the 2005 Catalogue)
